The Celebration of Saint Agatha in Catania

Saint Agatha is celebrated twice every year, from the 3rd to the 06th of February and again, from the 12th to the 17th of August, in remembrance of the date when her relics were finally brought back to Catania.

The Zafferanese Ottobrata

The fair of the town of Zafferana Etnea has been celebrated since the ‘80s and always during the month of October; thence the name Ottobrata.  The Ottobrata was traditionally a period spanning all the month of October and was called Saint Martin’s summer due to the unusual and persisting wave of warm weather observed during such period.
